Please review the attached document, including information about our upcoming MSBOA Festival Performance and our Pre-Festival in-class clinics with leading experts in the field of string pedagogy and music education. Contact me directly if you have any questions. Bus transportation will be provided from Derby MS to the festival performance site, however parents/guardians are responsible for picking their child up. Bus transportation is optional, please let me know if you plan on driving your child to/from the festival site.
In order to perform at our highest potential, students must be present for in-class rehearsals. We are actively making music and refining our performance repertoire every day. Absences from rehearsals not only impact individual players, but the ensemble as a whole. PLEASE refrain from scheduling doctor appointments and/or checking your student out of rehearsals during our MSBOA Festival preparation (February 1-March 11). EVERY rehearsal is vital to our preparation for this performance. Students with excessive absences leading up to our MSBOA Festival performance will be required to make up the material covered during regular class periods. Make up work may include required lunch period review sessions, after-school review sessions, or extra assignments.
Instrument Maintenance Policy
During the month of February, ALL orchestra students must have their instrument inspected and approved by Ms. Little. Recommendations for bow re-hair, string replacement, and other general maintenance will be made. Students must have maintenance done by Feb 21, 2016. All students MUST have an instrument in acceptable working condition for our MSBOA Festival performance. Please contact Ms. Little directly if you have questions or need assistance with necessary repairs.
Thank you for supporting our incredible student musicians!
